Solar power in the car dealership
The Salzburg car dealership Lindner in Wals-Himmelreich generates two thirds of its electricity requirements with an in-house photovoltaic system.

The Auto Lindner family business, founded in 1949 and now in its third generation, is making a further contribution to climate protection with a new photovoltaic system. The approximately 800 square meter system is located on the roof of the showrooms and has an output of 106 kilowatt peak. Since it went into operation in mid-July, 6,600 kilowatts of electricity have already been generated - enough to cover around two thirds of the car dealership's electricity needs.
Heating and cooling
"The aim of our efforts is to be as energy self-sufficient as possible in the future. The new PV system should make a significant contribution to this," says company boss Manfred Lindner. The electricity generated is primarily used to operate the climate-friendly heat pump for heating or cooling as required. In addition, the green electricity is used to charge the electrically powered demonstration vehicles. Lindner wants to feed as little electricity as possible into the public grid. An intelligent control ensures that the majority of the excess photovoltaic electricity goes into the hot water tank for temporary storage. “Since we mainly use electricity during the day, the share of our own consumption will be very high and will be almost 90 percent,” says Lindner.
Investments in climate protection
The Lindner car dealership invested in climate protection as early as 2011 as part of the new construction and modernization of the company building. The buildings received new thermal insulation and the heating system was converted to a heat pump. In summer, the groundwater is used for energy-efficient cooling of the offices and showrooms. In a further step, the company replaced all light sources with energy-saving LED lights. The green electricity used by Salzburg AG is 100 percent climate-friendly.
