Shirak speaks of a horror scenario”
At the moment, all the dams in the European automobile business are breaking down, almost every day there are reports of “newcomers” in the car business who, by supplying some manufacturers directly at “dream conditions,” would put their traditional brand dealers in serious trouble, complains retail spokesman Josef Schirak.

Shirak speaks of a horror scenario”

"Manufacturers supply large buyers from outside the industry with often 2 to 3 times the margin of an authorized dealer," says Schirak. This inevitably leads to "severe distortions" in pricing for demonstration cars, but also for used ones. “When it comes to demonstration cars, authorized dealers often lose 5,000 to 10,000 euros per demonstration car, up to 30,000 euros in the high-priced segment, due to their manufacturers’ obligation to purchase them,” explains Schirak. The retail spokesman is calling for EU competition authorities to intervene in view of “competition-relevant violations” by some manufacturers.
