Renault: The state of Lower Austria relies on e-mobility
The state of Lower Austria is currently making its contribution to the mobility transition by purchasing 200 Renault electric vehicles. Public authorities can order these 200 electric vehicles from Renault until the end of January 2020 via the sustainable procurement service of the Lower Austrian Energy and Environment Agency (eNu). "We are pleased to be able to equip Austria's largest federal state with a total of 200 electric vehicles through the Energy and Environment Agency. These will benefit from our years of experience in their respective areas of application and provide their users with maximum emission-free flexibility with long ranges and fast charging systems," says Olivier Wittmann, Managing Director of Renault Austria. He adds: “eNu is one of the most important Austrian buyers of purely battery-powered vehicles from Renault.”
LH deputy Stephan Pernkopf also sees an encouraging trend towards electromobility: "In 2030, more than 50 percent of new registrations should be e-cars. The path to get there is ambitious, but feasible." There are currently over 7,000 electric vehicles on the road in Lower Austria. The full ecological potential is exploited when using green electricity. That is why Lower Austria has been covering its electricity needs 100 percent from renewable energy sources since 2015. The electric car also impresses with its high efficiency. "Electric cars are characterized by low consumption. You can charge an electric car with around 15 square meters of photovoltaic area. And two wind turbines are enough to supply 7,000 electric cars with electricity. That means only 15 to 20 percent more electricity consumption with a 100 percent electric car quota. This is possible with renewables," adds Pernkopf.
