Renault - The next step towards software provider
The “Renaulution” announced by the French manufacturer is entering the next round: Renault is founding the République software.

Renault - The next step towards software provider
As part of the “Renaulution” strategy Renault wants to found the so-called “Software République” together with leading partner companies from the areas of technology, software and mobility. Based on an open system, the partners want to develop and market new solutions for a sustainable mobility offering. In addition to the Renault Group, founding members include Atos, Dassault Systèmes, STMicroelectronics and Thales. Software République would like to see itself as an open innovation ecosystem. Other partners are welcome.
“In the new mobility value chain, intelligent on-board systems are the driving force on which all research activities and investments are focused,” says Luca de Meo, CEO Groupe Renault. "Given the magnitude of this technological challenge, we have chosen a collective and open approach. Pooling competencies in cybersecurity, microelectronics, energy and data management will enable us to create unique, groundbreaking solutions for a CO2-to develop poor, shared and responsible mobility ‘made in Europe’,” continued de Meo.
According to calculations by the Boston Consulting Group, the global mobility market will grow by 60 percent to 11,000 billion euros by 2035. This growth is based primarily on disruptive new technologies and services, whose share of the global mobility market will increase from five to 45 percent.
In their collaboration, the partners focus on three main areas: intelligent systems for secure connectivity between vehicles and their surroundings, simulation and data management systems for optimal traffic flow, and simplifying charging processes.
