Subject to approval by the antitrust authorities, the branches in Austria are to be taken over by Continental in the first quarter of 2019. Reifen John is one of the largest specialist retail branches in Austria - and in the future will expand and strengthen the existing workshop and tire dealer network of the Continental subsidiary Profi Reifen und Autoservice. The takeover of Reifen John in Germany is also scheduled to take place in the first quarter of 2019. The companies will be integrated into the Vergölst tire and car service network under the existing name.
The Reifen John company, founded in 1926, employs around 400 people. “With the takeover, we can increasingly address the future issues in the Austrian tire trade,” says Kristjan Ambroz, CEO of Semperit Reifen GmbH: “This means we continue to rely on the traditional tire and car service trade that offers drivers a high level of advice, a wide product selection and the best quality service.” The branches will be continued in the Profi Reifen und Autoservice network under the current name Reifen John. The purchase still has to be approved by the responsible Austrian and German antitrust authorities.
