New car registrations in January: minus 11.6%
According to Statistics Austria, the number of new passenger car registrations (25,257 vehicles) fell by 11.6% in January 2019 compared to January 2018.

New registrations for gasoline-powered cars fell by 8.2% (share: 54.1%) and for diesel-powered cars (share: 40.9%) by 16.6%. However, more new registrations were recorded for cars with electric drives (+26.4%; share: 2.0%).
The car brands with the most new registrations were VW (share: 17.4%), Skoda (share: 9.4%) and Seat (share: 9.1%). The highest increases in the top 10 car brands were recorded by Seat (+15.9% compared to the same month last year), Skoda (+9.4%) and BMW (+8.5%), while the highest declines were recorded by the brands Audi (-32.2%), Mercedes (-20.7%) and Renault (-19.4%).
