New car registrations: + 0.4%
According to Statistics Austria, 32,551 cars were newly registered on the road in May 2018. That is 0.4% more than in the same month last year. New registrations of gasoline-powered cars increased by 16.9% (share: 54.4%), while those of diesel-powered cars fell by 16.2% (share: 41.4%).

Cars with electric drives recorded an increase of 3.2% (share: 1.3%). Compared to May 2017, the following car brands in the top 10 showed a positive result: Seat (+20.1%), Hyundai (+18.3%), Ford (+12.1%), VW (+3.6%) and Renault (+0.8%). There were declines in the brands Opel (-18.8%), Skoda (-7.6%), BMW (-6.6%), Audi (-5.3%) and Mercedes (-5.2%).
