PHS: Slight growth defies the market
Porsche Holding Salzburg (PHS) can look back on a successful 2019 financial year despite some challenging conditions. “Even though the steady growth in the new car markets relevant to us is cooling down, this year we have managed to maintain or even further expand our market performance with the brands of the Volkswagen Group in wholesale and retail,” emphasized Hans Peter Schützinger, spokesman for the PHS management.

The PHS expects one at the end of the year New car sales volume from757,200 vehiclesand with it oneIncrease of 1.9 percentto the previous year.
TheWholesale volumewill be almost 365,000 vehicles, which is aMinus the previous year's record of 1.9 percentmeans. In contrast, retail volume increased by 5.8 percent to 392,400 vehicles. Much of the retail volume growth was driven by new acquisitions in Italy, Japan and China.
In addition to increasing the volume of new cars, PHS was also able to Used car sales around3.6 percentto 221,000 vehiclesincrease.
The number of Employees rose32,000(previous year 30,883). Also the number of Dealer locations, which PHS operates worldwide, rose in the current year494 (+37)establishments.
Unique ranking
With34.9 percent market shareThe Volkswagen Group brands were able to increase their market performance by 0.6 percentage points at the end of November. From the beginning of the year, three Group brands managed to occupy the top three positions - with long-term market leader Volkswagen (the number 1 brand in Austria without interruption since 1957) ahead of Škoda and Seat. Schützinger: "As far as I know, this ranking cannot be found in any other country in the world. It makes us very happy that Austrians value our brands and models so much and also buy them."
A similar picture emerges when it comes to popularity. Nothing less thanseven modelsfrom the Volkswagen Group are among the popular models in Austria: in the first four places are theSkoda Octaviabefore theVW Golf, demVW Poloand the VW T-Roc, followed by Škoda Fabia (6), VW Tiguan (7) and VW Bus (8).
