The new Opel Astra has won one of the most prestigious titles in the automotive industry: it is “Car of the Year 2016”. The 58-member expert jury with automotive journalists from 22 European countries awarded the Astra a total of 309 points. The Volvo XC90 and Mazda MX-5 achieved 294 and 202 points respectively. Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann accepted the “Car of the Year 2016” award from jury president Hakan Matson on the eve of the first press day of the 86th Geneva Motor Show.

Die 58-köpfige Fachjury mit Automobiljournalisten aus 22 europäischen Ländern verlieh dem Astra insgesamt 309 Punkte. Der Volvo XC90 und der Mazda MX-5 erreichten 294 beziehungsweise 202 Punkte. Opel Group CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann nahm den „Car of the Year 2016”-Award am Vorabend des ersten Pressetages des 86. Genfer Automobilsalons von Jury-Präsident Hakan Matson entgegen.
