Online car trading still allowed?

“The vehicle trade is closed,” says Klaus Edelsbrunner unequivocally. It is probably possible to initiate the transaction online and without personal contact, but: Delivery to the vehicle dealer's premises is not permitted. Delivery to the customer will also not be possible, as it cannot regularly be ensured that the minimum distance of one meter is maintained at all times. These regulations are enforced very strictly by the responsible police bodies, so severe penalties can certainly be expected.

The spare parts trade is also limited. "The trade of spare parts between workshops is permitted. Sales to the end customer via the shop are not, except as part of service work on the car," says Edelsbrunner. So if a customer comes to the car dealership and wants to buy spare parts, this is currently not possible. It is permitted as part of repair work in the workshop.

Walter Birner, VFT chairman, tells us: "If orders reach us online or by telephone, we can deliver to the workshops as normal. The supply of spare parts to companies is secured."
