ÖAMTC winter tire test 2015
Only five of 35 models were rated “highly recommended”. Driving behavior in wet conditions is the main reason for numerous downgrades. The majority is still “recommended”.

ÖAMTC winter tire test 2015

Like every year, the ÖAMTC once again carried out a meaningful winter tire test this year. Two dimensions were tested: 165/70 R14T and 205/55 R16H. The result: a wide midfield, five positive and five negative highlights. ÖAMTC tire expert Friedrich Eppel: "Weak properties on wet roads are the reason for a downgrade for many tires. In particular, the products that were rated as "limited" or "not recommended" show clear weaknesses on this road condition. And wetness is the most common road condition in winter.” For the 14-inch models, Goodyear UltraGrip 9, Michelin Alpin A4 and Dunlop Winter Response 2 received a “highly recommended” rating. Among the 16-inch models, only the Continental ContiWinterContact TS 850 and the Yokohama W.drive V905 were able to get the top rating.
