In order to survive in the highly competitive aftermarket business, you not only need the right products at an attractive price, but also modern logistics. NGK Spark Plugs Europe, known for spark plugs and NTK for vehicle sensors, has recently significantly expanded its product portfolio. In order to continue to guarantee its customers rapid availability, the global spark plug market leader is opening a new logistics center in Duisburg. The new location now supplies original equipment and aftermarket customers in 44 countries.

1,000,000 PRODUCTS DAILY

NGK can now ship around one million products per day to aftermarket customers, spread across more than 300 deliveries and approximately 5,000 delivery positions. In addition, the company is now responsible not only for sales in Europe, but also for the entire EMEA region - including the Middle East and Africa. The new, currently largest distribution warehouse was built in collaboration with the real estate specialist Goodman. NGK is thus setting the course to process shipping volumes faster and more efficiently than ever. At the same time, there are sufficient reserves for further growth: 22,000 pallet storage spaces, 21,000 square meters of storage space and 44,000 shuttle storage spaces provide more than enough storage space to stock all product groups and guarantee the highest availability of goods. The new warehouse in Duisburg employs more than 100 people. Automated processes and powerful warehouse management software ensure that every order is assembled and shipped on the same day. With this individual investment, which is extraordinary for the company, NGK is preparing for the future and thus ensuring fast, reliable long-term delivery to the constantly growing markets in the EMEA region.

Duisburg is developing into an important hub for the automotive industry, not least due to its optimal connection to the transport network. Volkswagen, Audi and Mercedes-Benz already have their own logistics centers here. “The opening of the new warehouse is an important milestone for NGK,” said Damien Germès, Senior Vice President at NGK Spark Plug Europe. "We have grown historically and have had three warehouses at the Ratingen location. These are now combined in our new, optimally connected central warehouse. We have more space, have to cover shorter distances and can introduce efficient, partially automated processes. For our customers this means: they can rely on fast and error-free delivery."
