New OVE guidelines for high-voltage systems
The Austrian Association for Electrical Engineering OVE has developed the OVE guideline R 19 “Safe work on vehicles with high-voltage systems” together with representatives from business, transport companies, the Federal Motor Vehicle Guild and the authorities.

New OVE guidelines for high-voltage systems
The number of electric and hybrid vehicles is constantly increasing. The advantages of environmentally friendly technology are evident, but the dangers that arise from improper use of the electrical high-voltage (HV) systems in such vehicles are less so. The OVE guideline R 19 “Safe working on vehicles with high-voltage systems” contains information on the correct handling of the electrical systems used in hybrid, electric and fuel cell vehicles, specifically HV systems up to 1000 V AC or 1500 V DC. However, it only applies to intrinsically safe HV systems, i.e. i.e. if appropriate protective measures against electric shock, short circuits or arcing faults are in place. The guideline also contains information on how electrical hazards can be identified and hazards avoided. The guideline is aimed at employers who are responsible for preventing work-related hazards, as well as car mechanics and roadside assistance employees. The OVE guideline R 19 was published on June 1, 2015 and is now available in the OVE web shop at www.ove.at/shop Downloaded as a PDF for 29.92 euros (excl. VAT) or ordered as a paper version for 37.40 euros (excl. VAT).
