New leadership at Volkswagen

Ralf Brandstätter ist neuer CEO der Marke Volkswagen Pkw

The failed Volkswagen Golf 8 launch, the software problems that are still tormenting it and the renewed postponement of the VW ID.3 have made a restructuring of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand necessary. Herbert Diess, chairman of the board and head of Volkswagen passenger cars, hands over management of the VW passenger car division to Ralf Brandstätter. "Ralf Brandstätter is one of the company's most experienced managers. He has already successfully led Volkswagen as COO for the past two years and played a key role in shaping the brand's transformation," says Diess. “I am therefore pleased that Ralf Brandstätter will now continue to powerfully drive the development of the brand as CEO after the far-reaching strategic decisions of recent years.”

Diess should now be able to focus solely on the group management. Ralf Brandstätter trained as a fitter at Volkswagen and then studied industrial engineering and worked primarily in the procurement area for Seat and Volkswagen. He has been Chief Operating Officer of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand since August 2018.
