New training and further education strategy of the Federal Guild
The new competence center for training and further education has big plans to bring the profession of automotive technician into the modern age.

New training and further education strategy of the Federal Guild
The scope of activities of vehicle technicians has expanded massively in recent years. The spectrum of minimum requirements for employees extends from classic disassembly and assembly work to data reading and programming. The diverse technological challenges present entrepreneurs with major structural tasks. The servicing and repair of vehicles requires employees from different specialist areas, but also different qualification levels.
In order to lead the member companies of the Federal Vehicle Technology Guild into a successful future, a holistic training and further education strategy was created based on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). (NQF is an instrument for classifying qualifications of the Austrian education system into eight NQF qualification levels) The aim of the work on the National Qualifications Framework is to create a common European Qualifications Framework - EQF, which covers all education systems and qualifications in Europe.
Goals of the training and further education strategy
The implementation of the training and further education strategy takes place with the qualification classes NQF III to NQF VI:
- NQR III: Fahrzeugmonteur
- NQR IV: Karosseriebautechnik – Schwerpunkt Karosserie / Lack, Fahrzeugtechnik Schwerpunkt Mechanik / Diagnose
- NQR V: Fahrzeug Hochvolttechnik / §57a KFG geeigneter Fahrzeugprüfer / zertifizierter Dellentechniker / Carav-Techniker
- NQR VI: Meisterprüfung Kraftfahrzeugtechnik / Meisterprüfung Karosseriebautechnik
"No matter which drive is used in the vehicles, there is more and more electronics in the cars. These developments have a significant impact on the scope of work in connection with servicing, repairs and activation or coding of additional functions in the vehicles. In order to keep up with technological developments and the knowledge that has multiplied over the last decade, it is necessary to rethink and realign the existing training," explains Roman Keglovits-Ackerer.
