Mr. Rodlauer, welcome back to Goodyear Dunlop. What motivated you to return?
Goodyear was, is and remains a great company. I always felt comfortable there and am very happy to be able to bring back my many years of experience in the tire market.
Does a new managing director also mean a new strategy for the Austrian market?
No, my appointment as Managing Director in Austria will not change Goodyear's strategy.
Speaking of Austria: Is it true that the local tire trade was largely spared from the corona crisis?
On the one hand, the new car business has collapsed sharply due to the crisis, resulting in reduced demand from original equipment. On the other hand, replacement business has only fallen slightly due to the pandemic. Many now prefer their own “virologically protected” car to public transport.
What do you expect from the new financial year 2021?
I assume that mileage will recover after the Corona lockdowns. New registrations will also increase again in 2021 and low fuel prices will support the increased use of private cars. Our expectation is therefore that the new tire market will recover significantly in 2021.
