Mitsubishi remains in Europe through Renault
Recently it was clear that Mitsubishi would withdraw from the European business. Now things are different.
Mitsubishi Motors will in future distribute Renault OEM models under the Mitsubishi brand for selected key markets in Europe. From 2023, Mitsubishi Motors will sell two sister models produced in the Groupe Renault factories, which are based on the same platforms but should reflect the Mitsubishi DNA.
A model mix of the newly introduced Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross PHEV and the sister models developed by Renault is intended to enable Mitsubishi Motors to expand its own competitiveness in the market. "Our new approach within the Alliance is now becoming a reality. This great project meets the expectations of all partners from a design, regulatory and economic perspective. This is the spirit of the Alliance and we at Groupe Renault are very pleased to contribute to this new step in the history of collaboration," said Luca de Meo, CEO of Groupe Renault.
