Mercedes-Benz AG and Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings plc (“Aston Martin”) have announced a new strategic technology agreement and strengthened partnership.

Mercedes BenzandAston Martinhave been since the yearConnected in 2013: At that time, the Stuttgart-based company entered into a strategic cooperation with the English sports car manufacturer; AMG V8 engines and other components were supplied. Mercedes-Benz AG received one for thisCapital participation of five percent. Most recently, Mercedes-Benz was there2.6 percent in Aston Martininvolved.
Now Mercedes-Benz is increasing itsParticipation in Aston Martinonmaximum 20 percent. Under the new agreement, Mercedes-Benz AG will provide access to a range of advanced Mercedes-Benz technologies, including next-generation hybrid and electric powertrains and other vehicle components and systems.
In order to achieve the maximum agreed shareholding of 20 percent in Aston Martin, a contribution in kind totaling286 million British pounds be required. Mercedes-Benz AG hasnot the intention, herparticipationbeyond this levelto increase. The new shares are to be issued to Mercedes-Benz AG in several tranches until 2023, combined with the release of various technology packages.
