Mahle is cutting 7,600 jobs
“We are currently dealing with a crisis the likes of which we have never experienced before”says Jörg Stratmann, CEO and Chairman of the Mahle Group Management Board."Despite the associated economic challenges, we must continue to advance our future transformation issues and invest in order to remain competitive with the right know-how and portfolio. Especially now it is important to consistently continue our efforts to reduce costs and to focus even more closely on our strategic goals. The capacity adjustments that have already been implemented will not be enough."
Of the overcapacity identified globally, around 3,700 jobs are in Europe, around 2,000 of which are in Germany.
"Such measures are very difficult for us. But they are part of our global responsibility for the sustainable positioning of Mahle. We will begin discussions with the responsible employee representatives at short notice in order to discuss the measures in detail together and plan their socially acceptable implementation."says Anke Felder, labor director and member of the Mahle Group management.
Mahle predicts that the vehicle markets will only return to pre-crisis levels in several years.
