Mahle closes European factories

All European production sites will be gradually shut down in a controlled manner by March 25th at the latest and the indirect functions in administration and development will be reduced to a few core functions.
"We are experiencing an extreme situation that could not have been foreseen to this extent and whose further development is currently completely open. To protect our employees, we must make every effort possible to contain the further spread of the coronavirus. At the same time, we are reacting entrepreneurially to the slump in the markets and in particular to the production stoppage by automobile manufacturers in Europe," says Jörg Stratmann, CEO and Chairman of the Mahle Group Management Board.
The measures affect around 70 locations across Europe; Mahle coordinates with employee representatives on the respective approach, for example applying for short-time work. These and other internal measures apply until further notice, depending on the general conditions. The distribution centers for the aftermarket are excluded in order to ensure the supply of spare parts to the workshops.
