Mahle opens test bench for electric drives
Mahle put a test bench for electric drives into operation in Stuttgart, on which axles and drive units for electric and hybrid vehicles can be developed and tested.

Mahle invested around three million euros in the new system and has already successfully completed the first test of a unit for a customer. “With the commissioning of the test bench, Mahle is further expanding its global range of services for e-mobility,” says Martin Berger, Head of Research and Advance Development at Mahle. Function development, simulation of highly dynamic transient operating modes, efficiency measurements as well as torque vectoring and wheel slip simulations are carried out for international customers on the new e-test stand. The scope of services also includes the application and data processing of characteristic maps, the testing of high and low-voltage systems and the investigation of thermal influences. Mahle components can also be tested there in the system context. In addition, the new facility offers a powerful climate control system that covers a temperature range of -30 to +130 degrees Celsius to accurately simulate vehicle operating conditions.
