Mahle has reached an agreement with Daimler AG for access to encrypted OBD diagnostic ports on Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

Users of the Mahle TechPro or Brain Bee Connex diagnostic devices can easily access vehicle data via the “Cyber Security” function. Access to the Daimler portal to obtain safety certificates is via Mahle or Brain Bee annual subscription. As a special promotion, Mahle is offering holders of an active device license free access until the end of the year. “With this agreement, we are creating significantly more scope for independent workshops when it comes to servicing Mercedes-Benz vehicles,” says Joachim Schneeweiss, Emea Sales Manager at Mahle Aftermarket Service Solutions. Daimler AG will introduce a security gateway to prevent third parties from accessing security-relevant functions of its vehicles. This means that the OBD interface can only be read, but not written, or entries can be deleted if no original testers from Daimler AG are used or there is no certificate reference between the diagnostic device and Daimler.
