The “EtelligentReach” drive system consists of two electric motors, inverters and gearboxes as well as software to maximize range and driving dynamics. According to Magna, the further development of eDrive technology and the holistic vehicle development approach of the EtelligentReach system enable a range extension of up to 145 km or 30 percent, compared to current BEV series vehicles in this segment. EtelligentReach uses a modular control unit that integrates various powertrain and chassis functions. A vehicle dynamics controller with a decoupling system increases efficiency and reduces CO2 emissions. Individual control of each axle under all road conditions ensures a reduction in steering forces during dynamic cornering and increases safety. Customers can choose between several different driving modes. Magna achieves savings in energy consumption, among other things, by using silicon carbide in the inverter.

No fear of range

“This is definitely one of those stories where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” said Tom Rucker, President of Magna Powertrain. "EtelligentReach reduces range anxiety among end consumers and improves driving dynamics. Automakers get a complete, all-electric, all-wheel drive system that is exciting and efficient." EtelligentReach is just one of the current electrification solutions in Magna's portfolio. The portfolio also includes EtelligentEco – an intelligent, connected PHEV system that reduces greenhouse gas emissions by up to 38 percent, as well as EtelligentForce for the electrification of light commercial vehicles. Magna will present these innovations at its booth in the West Hall at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas, USA.
