Lucky Car is expanding into Switzerland

After years of constant growth and successful positioning as the market leader in Austria, Lucky Car, the largest contract-free domestic workshop chain, is now conquering the Swiss market.

Lucky Car opened its first location in Switzerland in September 2021. The foundation for international expansion was laid in the municipality of Dübendorf in the canton of Zurich. More will follow soon.

For Lucky Car founder and owner Ostoja "Ossi" Matic, after several years of careful planning, it was a very special moment and confirmation of the successful path so far: "The business idea of offering spot repairs for paint damage has evolved into Lucky Car, the largest, independent player in vehicle repairs, which is now also present internationally. This is a dream come true for me."

Rapid growth

The development is no coincidence. A sophisticated franchise solution, which was also named “Austria’s Best Franchise System” in 2016, makes rapid success possible.

Founded in 2008, the company now has 40 Lucky Car branches throughout Austria. All repairs in the areas of paint & bodywork, car mechanics and car glass are offered there for all car brands.

Huge increase in sales

Economically, things are also going according to plan. In the past financial year, despite the pandemic, Lucky Car was able to increase its sales by five million euros from 22 million euros to 27 million euros compared to the previous year. This corresponds to an increase of 22.7 percent.

According to Matic, the reasons lie in “the good development in the southern and western federal states – such as Carinthia – as well as the successful opening of three new branches in Strasshof, Wien-Favoriten and Wien-Rudolfsheim”.

Why Switzerland?

It is no coincidence that Lucky Car chose Switzerland to start its international expansion, as the neighboring country has enormous market potential.

According to the Swiss Auto Trade Association, there are 548 cars for every 1,000 inhabitants (as of 2020). In other words: there are around 4.7 million cars on Swiss roads. Conditions are similarly good as on the domestic market: According to Statistics Austria, there are around 5.09 million in Austria.
