As in previous years, the main and title sponsor of this rally event was Garanta Österreich Versicherungs-AG. "As a sponsor, we have been committed to classic car racing in Austria for many years. The Garanta Wachau Classic is one of the most beautiful local classic car events," explains Kurt Molterer, head of Garanta Austria, which was represented in the competitions this year with 12 vehicles. The focus was not on achieving top speeds, but rather on gliding along public, unclosed roads. The starting point of the rally was Luberegg Castle. Two different classifications were held on two days. Precision from driver, passenger and vehicle was required in the Sport-Classic category. An exclusive and sensual pleasure tour awaited the vintage car drivers of the Weekend Trophy. Fritz Jirowksy and Gerhard Soukal successfully defended their title and became overall winners again in the Sport Classic category in an Alfa Romeo 2000 GTV. Niki and Brigitte Fürstauer won the Weekend Trophy category in an MG Roadster.
