Load securing is still taken lightly. With the EU Directive 2014/47/EU, “compliant landing safety control”, which comes into force on May 20, 2019, there is a risk of higher penalties.

Ladungssicherung wird nach wie vor auf die leichte Schulter genommen. Mit der am 20.  Mai 2019 in Kraft tretenden EU-Richtlinie 2014/47/EU, „regelkonforme Landungssicherungskontrolle“ drohen höhere Strafen.

During the technical roadside inspection, the executive authority may carry out a load securing check on a vehicle in accordance with Annex III of the EU Directive to ensure that the load is secured in such a way that safe driving is not impaired and there is no risk to life, health, property or the environment. Every inspection carried out is entered into a Europe-wide transport company register. The more often deficiencies are discovered in a company, the higher the fines will be.  The penalties affect not only the driver but also the company's “authorized person”. The penalty range extends up to the revocation of the business license.

The Austrian Fleet Association has taken the entry into force of the above-mentioned EU directive as an opportunity to prepare affected companies and members with commercial vehicles up to 3.5 tons in the course of a full-day seminar and to refresh their existing knowledge on the topic. In addition to the legal requirements, the speaker, Ing. Reinhard Koller, a sworn and court-certified expert for load securing, will also address the practical aspects in the seminar on March 26, 2019 in Wiener Neudorf. The program includes: Legal requirements for everyone involved, what forces are involved when driving light commercial vehicles, how controls are carried out and how they can be defused, which security methods are suitable for which load, what can vehicles contribute to holding the load and preparation of the specified control catalog according to Annex III TUK.
