VW is showing its first digital auto show. Are physical, classic car shows over? Nope.

Comment: Digital car shows
Volkswagen presents: After the Geneva Motor Show was canceled, VW is now showing its new products in a digital show - see Article. The last IAA in Frankfurt already recorded a dramatic decline in visitors - the omnipresent topic of climate change at the time was of no help to the automotive industry. Nevertheless: Digital trade fairs are an exciting topic for industry. This is supported by the fact that there are no wastages. Anyone who goes to the digital trade fair of brand At the same time, you don't see any competing products and the costs are many times lower: no stand staff, no hotel costs, no trade fair stand, no stand builder, no laborious transport of vehicles, etc.
But the sticking point is precisely the linked digital trade fair from VW. To be honest: the digital tour of the trade fair is pixelated, it jerks a lot on my computer and the cars just look very artificial. The automotive industry has high-quality products that want to shine. Just look at the elaborate lighting at trade fairs. Nothing is left to chance. In contrast, VW's digital trade fair seemed like the final work of a creative programmer - nice, interesting, but please don't compare it to a physical trade fair, as the products come across as much cheaper than in reality.
Hence my prediction: If digital trade fairs look like this in the future, the automotive industry will be happy to save the money for it. That won't work. If the graphics improved dramatically and the cars looked much more real, then you would have to reassess the situation. So all I can say is: A nice, brave attempt, but Schuster, stick to your lasts.
