Climate protection in the aftermarket
Parts of the week: Meyle HD chassis and steering parts are the first climate-neutral products on the independent aftermarket.

Climate protection in the aftermarket
20 years after introducing the first Meyle HD part, the Hamburg manufacturer is now making its chassis and steering parts the first climate-neutral product line in the independent aftermarket. The company's goal is to become climate neutral by 2030. The ambitious project has been running since 2019. Since then, emissions from production have been significantly reduced, among other things, by purchasing wind energy. Now the company is taking the next step and offsetting the CO2 emissions in cooperation with ClimatePartner. Most of the parts are produced in our own factory in Turkey, which, like the Meyle headquarters in Hamburg, has been certified as CO2-neutral since 2021.
The concept behind Meyle HD parts has always been sustainable: instead of buying a new item, repairs are made with a replacement part that lasts longer than the original. "That's good, but it's not enough for us. We want to be a driving force in a very heterogeneous and international industry," says Florian Gaertner, Corporate Responsibility Manager. “That’s why we committed to the UN Global Compact in 2021, are systematically accelerating our sustainability activities and expanding them step by step.” The next step is to make all MEYLE locations CO2-neutral. The company is also striving to reduce CO2 emissions from its suppliers. By using CO2-reduced materials such as “green aluminum and steel”, Meyle plans to be able to further reduce CO2 in the future. After an initial change in packaging and shipping materials, around four tons of plastic are already being saved each year in logistics. Further reductions are being sought.
