The ideal individual vehicle for the city should be small on the outside and large and comfortable on the inside - a balancing act that the Kia Picanto in the X-Line version masters convincingly.

Das ideale Individualmobil für die Stadt soll außen klein und dabei innen groß und gemütlich sein – ein Spagat, den der Kia Picanto in der X-Line Variante überzeugend meistert.

Kia Picanto: Fresh, cheeky and fast

Feel:  The X-Line version of the Picanto is 7.5 centimeters longer, 3 centimeters wider and 1.5 centimeters higher than the basic version of the small city car - and some colleagues are already ennobling it with the title “mini SUV”. A bit exaggerated, in my opinion, because this label simply doesn't do justice to the beautifully drawn city car. In the interior, the Picanto pampers you with plenty of space on the front seats, fine imitation leather under the rear and thick real leather on the steering wheel, as well as clearly designed classic fittings. We recommend the equipment with a 7-inch central display including navigation system, which is included in the optional technology package. The only small point of criticism: operating the many buttons and switches on the steering wheel and steering column levers takes some time to get used to.

Drive: With direct injection and turbocharging, the 100 hp three-cylinder proves to be a lively little fellow with a pleasantly rough voice. The rolling comfort is on the hard side, which is also helped by the 16 inch wheels with 195/45 R16 tires on light alloy rims. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/h takes just 10.1 seconds, and even overtaking on the motorway doesn't become a hassle thanks to the generous torque.

Load: The Picanto is designed to transport five people, although the three in the back seat shouldn't be afraid of cuddling. The knee room is naturally modest, but bearable on shorter journeys. When fully occupied, the trunk holds 255 liters, or 1,010 liters with the rear seats folded down.

Conclusion: The beefy design elements on the body in combination with bright yellow-green fog lights and radiator grille do not make the Picanto X-Line an SUV - fortunately. The charming small car with pep is ideal for visiting the city without having to worry about parking, as well as for trips to the surrounding area and even for trips further afield - but then only with two people.
