Automotive apprentices only slowed down briefly
The final apprenticeship examinations for automotive technology apprentices, which have been temporarily suspended due to the Corona crisis, should be allowed to be held in May.

“The decision has been made, the final apprenticeship examinations will be held in the spring,” says Georg Ringseis, Vienna State Guild Master of Vehicle Technicians. Due to current developments, all planned apprenticeship, master's, skills and entrepreneurship exams as well as engineering certifications were postponed until the end of April, and the affected exam candidates were informed individually. “For apprentices in their fourth year of training, we provide e-learning options for self-study; the knowledge check and the written final exams can be carried out online,” says Ringseis. However, the subsequent final apprenticeship examination is divided into an oral and a practical part, which brings with it certain challenges under the current Corona conditions. “The practical exams should also be possible with a certain amount of respect,” says the state guild master confidently. “We are currently designing the necessary hygiene standards so that the exams can probably take place in mid-May.”
