No purchase bonus for diesel and petrol engines in Germany
The economic stimulus package for 2020 and 2021 is worth 130 billion euros. The auto industry was hoping for a government car purchase bonus. However, one thing is now clear: This does not come for vehicles with combustion engines. The federal government wants to promote cars with electrified drives even more than before. The state share of the previous “environmental bonus” for corresponding vehicles with a net list price of up to 40,000 euros will be doubled. The state now supports the purchase of a purely battery-operated model with 6,000 euros. When you buy a fuel cell car, the state will now contribute 5,000 euros, 4,500 euros for plug-in hybrids and 3,750 euros for hybrids. Also decided: New cars with high fuel consumption will be charged a higher vehicle tax. From 2021, the assessment basis for vehicle tax on new registrations will primarily be based on CO2-be emissions.
