The World Skills Championships will take place in Abu Dhabi from October 14th to 19th, 2017. The 20-year-old apprentice Simon Winder from Alberschwende is the first Austrian ever to compete in the body construction technician category. He is accompanied by his boss Wilfried Mennel, who runs the body academy in Alberschwende.

Simon is currently completing his fourth year of training and has invested around 300 hours in preparation since March - including in his free time. Thanks to Mercedes Schneider, training takes place on an A-Class model. During the competition, Simon has to carry out dent removal, straightening and measuring work as well as welding and adhesive connections on such a Mercedes A-Class.

He has already achieved 7th place at the International Skills in Shanghai: “This time I want to make it into the top 5,” he emphasizes.
