Each Tesla is worth $1.6 million!

Tesla, the most valuable automobile brand in the world (based on stock market value), is in the headlines again. This time the online portal Kryptoszene is concerned with whether Tesla is not dramatically overvalued. According to the platforms, 50 percent of financial market experts would consider it very likely that the Tesla price will halve over the next year. Unfortunately, this is a non-statement, as 50 percent probably see it differently and therefore both price directions (falling/rising) are equally likely.

But 80 percent are said to assume that the market is overheated and the alleged Tesla bubble could soon burst. But this has also been propagated again and again since 2013 - and this drama has never happened.

At that time (2013) the market value was 17 billion US dollars. Today Tesla has a market capitalization of over $800 billion. For comparison: Volkswagen brings it to 86 billion US dollars, although VW sold over 5.3 million new vehicles last year (2020), while Tesla was only able to sell around 500,000 units. The relations at Market value of different car companies are indeed remarkable and suggest that Tesla is already overvalued.

If you calculate the company value based on car sales, an exciting picture emerges: Each Tesla delivered would be worth 1.6 million dollars, while each VW delivered would only be worth 16,226 euros. One could boldly ask the question: Is a Tesla model really worth almost a hundred times as much as a VW? At the moment the market seems to think so.
