There will be a state championship in September
The die has been cast: The professional association would like to hold a national apprenticeship competition this year. A very special one at that.

There will be a state championship in September
“It would simply be a nice sign in several respects,” says Georg Ringseis. As the guild master of vehicle technology in Vienna, he will also act as host. The state championship for apprentices would be a premiere in that it would be the first nationwide competition in which automotive technicians and body builders work together to determine their best young talent. “This is a sign to the outside world: We are a family,” says Ringseis. Of course, they also hope for synergies at the event and that it could also become more interesting for potential sponsors.
And then there is another sign that people are only too happy to send: namely, that in the fall we could take a step back to normality when it comes to Corona. Specifically, the state championship is now planned for September 9th and 10th, which means that the state championships have to take place earlier, in August at the latest.
Corona remains the big question mark
According to Ringseis, the decision to hold the federal apprenticeship competition was clear in the guild and was passed without much discussion. It is hoped that the pandemic will be somewhat under control by then. If necessary, the event would have to be adapted to the Corona rules.
That would of course be a shame, because Ringseis knows that everything around it has its charm. Meeting in advance and doing something together, for example. And then of course a celebratory evening event and not forgetting the awarding of the winners and the subsequent celebration. Whether this can all go ahead remains to be seen.
The titles will be divided between 18 automotive technicians and 18 body builders. In total, including jurors, professional representatives and accompanying persons, the host is expecting around 200 guests. The competitions themselves will take place at the vocational school, but the locations for the supporting events are currently still open.
