IBM mobility study: None of us would have thought that!
IBM and the market research company Morning Consult have published a current study on the mobility behavior of Munich residents at the start of the IAA Mobility in Munich. It highlights opinions and attitudes on three topic areas: sustainable mobility and CO2 footprint, electromobility and sustainability of the urban transport infrastructure. The results are surprising.

IBM mobility study: None of us would have thought that!
1000 representative people were surveyed. In the area of environmentally friendly mobility and CO2-In total, 79 percent of those surveyed said that their individual CO2footprint is “important” (43 percent) or even “very important” (36 percent). Among those surveyed aged 65 and over, 51 percent said their carbon footprint was “very important”. In the group of 18 to 34 year olds, however, there were significantly fewer (30 percent) who found their personal impression to be “very important”. Knapp: The older generation would rather pay attention to fewer emissions than their successors.
The situation is different with electric cars: A total of 58 percent stated in the survey that they see electric vehicles as really environmentally friendly and sustainable, of which 14 percent “completely” agree with this statement. However, when broken down into age groups, there are major differences in this strong agreement: While 20 percent of 18 to 34 year olds “completely” agreed, the figure was only six percent of those over 65 years old. In the age group between 35 and 44 years it was 16 percent, and in the 45 to 64 year olds it was ten percent. It can be seen that strong agreement decreases significantly with increasing age. Or: The young are more excited.
