IAA Frankfurt 2019 – Many manufacturers are dropping out
The International Motor Show ( IAA ) is under the slogan “Driving Tomorrow”. It should be about the future of individual mobility. It's just a shame that one of the world's largest car shows is struggling with dramatic cancellations. To date, the following manufacturers are:NOTexhibit at the IAA:
- Renault
- Nissan
- Alpine
- Toyota
- Mitsubishi
- Mazda
- Lexus
- Subaru
- Ssangyong
- Dacia
- Peugeot
- Citroen
- DS
- Volvo
- Chevrolet
- Cadillac
- Rolls-Royce
- Aston Martin
- Suzuki
- Fiat
- Chrysler
- Alfa Romeo
- Jeep
- Tesla
- Infiniti
Some manufacturers justify the cancellations with the high costs and an unfavorable time for their model presentations. General criticism of the existing trade fair format is also expressed. Even well-known manufacturers who exhibit at the trade fair are putting in the red pencil. According to media reports, BMW, for example, is said to have dramatically reduced the size of its stand (from 11,000 to 3,000 square meters) in order to reduce costs from 25 million euros to around 6 million euros. In order to be more attractive to exhibitors for future editions of the IAA, new ideas are already being worked on.
