Soaring for BYD
With 926 new registrations in January and February 2025, BYD was able to almost triple new registrations in Austria this year compared to the same period last year.

Soaring for BYD
"The total number of sales contracts concluded this year is already well into the four-digit range. We are therefore fully on track and see achieving the ambitious annual target of 8,000 new registrations in our third year as very realistic," says Danijel Dzihic, Managing Director of BYD Austria. In particular, the demand for the new Sealion 7 model is enormous. The fully electric SUV Coupé became a bestseller in its segment with 650 sales in just 2 months. But the brand's first plug-in hybrid in Austria, the Seal U DMi, has also established itself as a successful model and is now the second most powerful model in the BYD portfolio: "In the third quarter, we will also be launching the Comfort variant with a 26.6 kWh battery, which offers 125 kilometers of pure WLTP-E range or a total range of 1,125 kilometers," says Dzihic.
Compact SUV at the start
In addition, BYD Austria will round off the first half of the year with the Atto 2 – a compact SUV with a length of 4.3 m – and a purely electric small car. Dzihic: “Pre-sales for the Atto 2 start at the beginning of April. In Austria, the model with its 45 kWh battery will appeal primarily to those customers who are looking for a brilliantly equipped city car or second car.” The Atto 2 variant with the 60 kWh blade battery will come to Austria at the beginning of 2026 and should also impress people who drive a lot with a range of over 420 km. Dzihic: "We currently sell exactly fifty-fifty to commercial and private customers, which is a novelty in the industry and underlines our price-performance positioning. We want to further professionalize ourselves in the area of corporate customer support this year. Our fleet sales team, led by Katharina Williamson, is currently examining the establishment of fleet centers throughout Austria."
