Major initiative for natural gas
At a press conference at the OMV headquarters, Hans Peter Schützinger, spokesman for the CEO of Porsche Holding Salzburg, and Rainer Seele, OMV CEO and general director, discussed the role gas will play in the future of energy.

Major initiative for natural gas
The IEA World Energy Outlook 2018 “New Policy Scenario” predicts significant growth in the global gas market. Demand for gas is expected to increase by 43 percent by 2040 - meaning gas is growing significantly faster than total energy consumption. Gas demand could more than double in the Asia-Pacific region. As a replacement for coal and nuclear energy, gas can make a significant contribution to global climate protection and security of supply.
The use of gas in the area of passenger transport also leads to relevant savings. Up to 23% less CO2, 75% less nitrogen oxides and 98% less particulate matter - all of these are strong arguments for CNG-powered vehicles and the environment. A comprehensive network of 160 CNG filling stations (54 of which are OMV) in Austria, short refueling times, fuel cost savings of up to 50% and a wide range of models increase the attractiveness of buying a CNG vehicle. In addition, OMV will invest up to ten million euros in the CNG network. Upgrades to existing petrol pumps and a demand-driven network expansion are planned.
OMV and Porsche Holding are jointly offering a special offer for those interested in CNG cars: when you purchase such a model from the Volkswagen Group brands VW, Audi, Seat or Skoda, refueling with CNG is free for the first year* at the OMV filling stations.
