FVA: Insights into Accident Repair
Claims processing is an essential part of fleet management. Minor parking damage can happen quickly; it is important to repair the paintwork of the company vehicle as quickly as possible and pay attention to the quality. If the repair is obvious, it lowers the vehicle value. The complexity of accident repairs for paint damage to modern cars was presented to the fleet association members at the Axalta Refinish Training Center in Oeynhausen. The aim was to create awareness of the technical problems: Do you know how many liters of paint are on a modern car? “About a liter,” says Gerhard Steinbock, coloristics expert at Axalta. One liter of paint means extremely thin layers. "The paint buildup on modern cars is about 60 to 100 mu (micrometers). That's about 0.06-0.1 millimeters." According to the expert, it is therefore difficult to achieve perfect results in accident repairs.
Rudolf Luxbacher, Axalta Network & FLI Manager, introduces the ARN – the Automotive Repair Network. The accident repair network offers a variety of practical advantages for fleet operators. (Click here Video link )
All in all, it was an extremely entertaining and informative event that revealed a lot of depth for painting amateurs and made it tangible how much know-how and technical sophistication there is in modern refinishing. More about Fleet Association
