Eurotax code allocation for FCA Group
This month Eurotax issues the current national codes for the five brands of the Fiat Group (Alfa-Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Abarth and Jeep). The National Code was introduced in 1999 to more clearly identify the type of vehicle.

This in turn not only enables vehicles to be clearly assigned and described, but also provides the basis for more precise statistical evaluations and the determination of the value of a vehicle. Specifically, Eurotax assigns a consecutive 6-digit number to every new vehicle model, every variant and every special model in Austria. This number is transmitted to the approval database by the relevant manufacturer/importer and is included in the registration certificate when the vehicle is registered: the National Code is born. “A large part of the offers on exchanges and dealers run with this code,” comments Oliver Schimek, Director Data & Special Markets at Eurotax. Peter Pokorny, Homologation Manager at FCA adds: "For the Fiat Group, this means that the approximately 700 current models from the Italian car manufacturer's five brands can now be made identifiable and comparable in terms of their equipment variants. In addition, they are now linked to the systems used in the Austrian vehicle trade and at Statistics Austria. Ultimately, it is also easier for other brands to recognize vehicles from the FCA Group when they are traded in."
