Austria's team won big at the European Professional Championships in Budapest. 43 participants from Austria became runner-up European champions with a total of 21 medals (4 x gold, 14 x silver and 3 x bronze), making them the best EU nation.

Klaus Lehmerhofer from Gföhl in Lower Austria, employed at BMW Auer in Krems an der Donau, made a significant contribution to the success of the Austrian team with his gold medal in the field of automotive technology. Friedrich Nagl, BIM of automotive technology: "More than 500 participants from 28 countries fought for the coveted European Championship titles at the 6th EuroSkills European Professional Championships in Budapest. It makes me and the entire automotive engineering profession proud to now have a European champion in our ranks. This also honors the qualitative work of all members of the Federal Automotive Technology Guild in training and further education."
