A camera against distraction
Magna's new Driver Monitoring System warns drivers if they take their eyes off the road for too long.

A camera against distraction
The market-ready system developed by Magna consists of a camera integrated into the interior mirror that monitors the driver's head, eye and body movements to detect inattentive behavior, drowsiness or signs of fatigue. The technology also records driving actions such as looking in the side mirrors. If distracted driving behavior is detected, customizable audio or visual notifications warn the driver. The system is scalable to include functions such as child presence or seat belt detection. Magna wants to make a significant contribution to road safety with the driver monitoring system, as the number of accidents as a result of distraction increases dramatically from year to year.
