Most people probably associate the word amalgam with pain, namely with the so-called tooth filling. Amalgam can also stand for something very beautiful: namely the most elegant model cars in the world.

Amalgam Collection from Bristol, UK, specializes in handcrafted large-scale models, particularly in a 1:8 scale. After many hours of handcrafting, these models fully capture the original and can hardly be distinguished from a real car in photos.

There is often a motorsport connection, which explains why, in addition to prominent collectors such as the actor Sylvester Stallone or the fashion entrepreneur Ralph Lauren, numerous Formula 1 stars are also among the company's customers. Amalgam Collection recently announced a partnership with the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), focused on the world's most famous endurance race, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Hundreds of hours of work

The Ferrari 330 P4 (see photo), for example, is a model of a legendary racing car from the 1960s. The good piece costs 13,224 euros; as a courtesy, it is possible to pay four interest-free installments of 3,307 euros each. But this makes the 330 P4 not even the most expensive piece the British have in their range. Other models such as the Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato cost almost 16,000 euros (15,940 to be exact).

According to the company, there are 5,000 hours of development and 500 hours to finally build the good model, which is limited to 199 pieces. You can see how detailed the models are built in the picture gallery above, especially in the picture that offers a look into the cockpit of the still unfinished Aston Martin.

A replica of the Alfa Romeo 18C 2900, which won the Mille Miglia in 1938, also costs 15,940 euros. By the way, even here we haven't reached the end of the price line yet. If you want it to be even more noble and elite, you can also order tailor-made one-off products. In this respect, this amalgam also causes pain to normal mortals.
