“The diesel engine will remain with us in the passenger car sector long after 3030. Aside from heavy traffic, the diesel engine remains irreplaceable in the passenger car and van sector in terms of performance, practicality, suitability for everyday use and economic efficiency,” says retail spokesman Josef Schirak.

When it comes to environmental impact, the diesel car already stands up to any comparison today - in terms of production, lifespan, recycling and scrapping. Shirak is convinced that this is particularly true in “competition” with the “highly stylized” electric cars. „Die unsachliche Verteufelung von Diesel-Fahrzeugen durch gezielte politische Attacken bedeutet auf Europa und deren potente Fahrzeughersteller bezogen eine bedenkliche Arbeitsplatzvernichtung, wirtschaftlichen Selbstmord sowie Vernichtung von Volksvermögen.“ And the retail spokesman concluded: “It is very unfortunate for me how the diesel vehicle is being politically abused here in order to promote the so-called green idea without regard to losses.”
