The not-so-big show anymore

During the four days of the trade fair (January 16th to 19th, 2020), exactly 160,680 visitors (3,500 fewer than last year) passed through the turnstiles of the Vienna Trade Fair. The Vienna Auto Show and Holiday Fair mark the annual trade fair launch of organizer Reed Exhibitions. In addition to the 40 automobile brands that presented a total of 330 new cars, 13 renowned brands were conspicuously absent: Citroen, FCA (Alfra, Fiat, Jeep), Jaguar-Land Rover, Kia, Lexus, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Maserati and Volvo. This time the supporting program was wide-ranging: the e-mobility area, SUV experience, driving simulators and the “Connected Mobility” specialist congress (see page 16) provided a wide range of offerings alongside the 40 exhibiting car brands.

"We strive to further develop the economy and ecology in harmony. We have a great interest in ensuring that jobs, research, development and value creation are maintained in Austria."ANDREAS OTTENSCHLÄGER, ÖVP TRAFFIC SPOKESMAN

POLITICAL CELEBRITIES ON THE OPENING DAY

Federal Minister Gewessler and ÖVP transport spokesman Ottenschläger visited the Vienna Trade Fair. E-mobility, innovations and new transport concepts were the focus of the two politicians' visits. Federal Minister Leonore Gewessler and Benedikt Binder-krieglstein (CEO Reed Exhibitions) took a joint tour of the Vienna Autoshow to the official opening of the EMobility Area. This special show was eight times larger this year than last year. Andreas Ottenschläger underlined the goal set with the new coalition partner to “further develop the economy and ecology in harmony” and the “great interest in ensuring that jobs, research, development and value creation are maintained in Austria.”
