The best automotive apprentices in Vienna
“Today has once again proven how much talent our Viennese apprentice girls and boys have,” said Georg Ringseis, Vienna State Guild Master of Vehicle Technology: “We are proud of all of you!” The winner in the area of body construction technology was Felix Haas from Porsche Inter Auto 1230, second place went to Philipp Trella from Porsche Inter Auto 1230, third place went to Abdülkadir Yayla from BMW Zitta.
18-year-old Felix Haas was surprised and happy when he accepted the winner's trophy: "The competition was strong," remarked the young Viennese and appeared self-confident: "I already know about my talents and I'm definitely someone who always wants to get the absolute maximum and the best out of myself, but the fact that I ended up in first place makes me really proud." The 18-year-old is now moving on to the national apprenticeship competition in the autumn, where he will compete for Vienna. “It will be much more difficult there because the level is higher, but as always I will try to do the best I can,” says Haas ambitiously. In addition to completing his apprenticeship, the aspiring body construction technician also wants to complete his high school diploma in January 2023, after which he will take the master's examination. He has good tips for young people who don't yet have any concrete plans for their future: "Find out about apprenticeships at trade fairs or on the Internet, look for something that interests you, if you're skilled at crafts, go into the trades. And don't stress yourself out, because you don't have to stay in the job, but you'll learn a lot for life in the three or four years of your apprenticeship." He also notes positively that apprenticeships are paid quite well these days. Haas would also like to thank his trainers at Porsche Liesing for his success. “We try to constantly improve as a team; there is hardly a company in Vienna where you get more opportunities than with us.”

In the automotive technology category, Felix Raub secured first place, Matthias Winkler came in second, both of whom are completing their training at Pappas. Third place went to Taita Ekelhart from PA Triesterstraße Stellantis. Winner Felix Raub, 18 years old, also blames the good training environment at Pappas for his success: "I really learned a lot there and am still learning a lot. What's great is that you move to a new department every six months during your apprenticeship. This way you get to know all the departments and can then decide which one you want to stay in." Raub thanked his trainers who took extra time for extra coaching and exercises in the training workshop before the apprentice competition. The 18-year-old is now moving on to the national apprenticeship competition in the autumn, where he will compete for Vienna. Raub's love of cars was born in his cradle because his father is a passionate mechanic. Raub wants to continue his training to become a customer service advisor after completing his apprenticeship. In his free time he works on his 1991 Mercedes 190. “The car is in excellent condition, a real investment,” he reports proudly. He also has good tips for young people who are about to choose a career: "Don't listen to others, but to yourself: Ask yourself: What do I like to do? If you like doing crafts and tinkering all day long, you should become a mechanic; if you are good at communicating with other people, go into customer service."
