Over 4,000 automotive and motorcycle technicians from Europe took part in the 2021 European Honda Technician Competition in the first half of 2021.

In the first part, the participants had to answer questions on the topics of vehicle technology, service repair diagnosis, workshop literature and Honda DNA using the Honda training platform “Honda Dream Factory”. Around 70 Honda technicians from Austria took on this challenge. The winning technicians with the highest number of points in all modules are in the automotive division:
- Erich Lechner, Autohaus Hänfling GmbH, St. Pölten
- Martin Plank-Sandhofer, Weingartner & Sturmlehner GmbH, Scheibbs
- Franz Kattnig, Fahrzeughaus Kropfitsch GmbH, Klagenfurt
The winners of the motorcycle division are:
- Klaus Popodi, Firma Popodi, Mühldorf / Mölltal
- Christian Lehner, Pesek GmbH, Stockerau
- Manfred Legensteiner, Motorradklinik e.U., Gralla
The best 26 Honda technicians in Europe will qualify for the second part of the competition and will demonstrate their practical skills and theoretical knowledge at the Honda Academy in Erlensee near Frankfurt in 2022. Austria will be represented by Martin Plank-Sandhofer (Weingartner & Sturmlehner GmbH) and Klaus Popodi (Popodi Company). The mechanics who receive awards there are then invited to the global Honda technician competition in Japan and represent Europe.
