Raise the energy treasure
In many workshops and car dealerships, expensive energy is wasted unused due to undetected leaks. Sustainably oriented companies can therefore seek advice on how they can plug such holes and increase the efficiency of their operations.

Raise the energy treasure

A proud 9,000 euros saved – that looks good in the annual balance sheet of the Narowetz car dealership in Brunn am Gebirge in Lower Austria. Supported by the Viennese consulting company “Denkstatt” as part of the “klimaaktiv” climate protection initiative, managing directors Erwin Bäuchl and Andreas Neumann and their team implemented various measures to sustainably reduce ongoing operating costs. The old lamps in the workshop, showroom and offices were replaced with modern LED lamps and lights. This meant that cost savings of more than 60 percent could be achieved. The heating system has also been optimized: new thermostats now regulate the fan heaters in the halls and enable zone control. Energy savings per year: around 75,000 kWh. Payback period: 4.5 years.
Positive energy balance at Würth
With energy-saving measures, Würth Austria, a specialist in the trade of fastening and assembly materials, was also able to reduce its energy consumption by 6.5 percent within a year. The modernization of the heating system in the Innsbruck customer center and the switch to district heating in Vienna-Inzersdorf proved to be particularly energy efficient. At both locations, heating energy consumption has been reduced by around 25 percent since 2014. At the company headquarters in Böheimkirchen, the heating and air conditioning system was also renewed, and at the same time the seals of compressed air pipes were optimized. Managing Director Alfred Wurmbrand: "Würth Austria currently requires around 20.6 gWh of energy per year to operate the headquarters, the 43 customer centers, logistics and the fleet. By 2020, we want to reduce this value by 10 percent compared to 2014."
Careful disposal
“Be careful of dubious disposal companies that do not have the necessary transport authorizations,” warns Alexander Granzin, project manager at Partslife, the environmental management system of the independent automotive parts industry. Workshops that do not have used tires disposed of properly risk a fine of up to 50,000 euros. Partslife only works with specialist disposal companies that have the necessary authorizations to transport and recycle waste. Waste disposal can be ordered quickly and easily via the online ordering platform Partslife Order Online (POOL). Partslife already coordinates the collection and disposal of workshop waste at over 10,000 workshops.
