The participants in the further training event “HV1 for dent technicians” exclusively for members of the Austrian Dellenteam network now know very well what needs to be taken into account when disassembling and repairing dents on electric vehicles. The focus was also on occupational safety and liability issues when working on electric cars. The event took place in Lack & Technik's modern training center in Linz.

The dent team maintains high quality of work and professionalism of the dent technicians. This is demonstrated by the high proportion of certified dent technicians in the network: certified dent technicians work in 9 out of 14 member companies. “In the future, we would like to continue to organize further training events for our members in order to strengthen their competence in the changing market,” says Dellenteam founder Arthur Clark. The members can bring in the topics themselves, because the dent technicians know best where there is a need for training. “Safety instructions HV1 – safe handling of high-voltage technology” is a topic that is becoming increasingly important for dent technicians, as hybrid and electric vehicles are just as affected by hail damage as conventional cars. In the event of major hail damage and when time is short, a dent technician may need to work on an electric car that is not disconnected from the power supply. If he gets into danger areas where orange cables are visible, it could be life-threatening. Helmut Glas, tested and certified trainer and high-voltage technician, provided the participants with comprehensive information about electric and hybrid vehicles. Practical cases and numerous tips made the content tangible and understandable. “An HV1-trained dent technician knows that he is generally not allowed to dismantle cables,” says the expert. When the participants asked what they were allowed to do, he replied: “Read the repair manual for the car in question, use common sense and do not touch the orange cables, because this requires a voltage isolation by an authorized HV technician.” He advised dent technicians to maintain a safe distance of 10 to 15 cm from orange cables. After the theory, we went to the vehicle, where the participants could ask further questions. The BMW i3 electric car was provided to Dellenteam by Höglinger Denzel GmbH/Linz for training. Modern training center The further training event took place in the Lack & Technik training center in Linz, which has a theory room with the latest presentation technology and a workshop with a painting booth for learning on the vehicle. Lack & Technik has been a partner of the Dellenteam network since it was founded in 2007. “We would like to thank Rudolf Weismann and his team for the great collaboration,” says Arthur Clark. In the area of dent repair, Lack & Technik offers a comprehensive program of tools and training. Dent training, certification exams and preparatory courses take place in the Lack & Technik training center.
