These are the new representatives

With 9 of 19 new representatives elected in the Chamber of Commerce elections in spring 2020, the Federal Guild of Automotive Technology was constituted as the interest group of the 8,447 automobile, bodywork and vulcanization companies on November 16, 2020 in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce. Josef Harb, who has held this position since 2018, was re-elected as Federal Guild Master. Roman Keglovits-Ackerer and Manfred Kubik were elected as his deputies.

Kubik succeeds Erik Paul Papinski, who has withdrawn from all functions and is retiring. In 2015, the two interest groups for body construction technology and automotive technology were merged to form the new Federal Guild of Automotive Technology. “We have now had five years to gain experience of working together,” emphasizes Harb in his inaugural speech. “It is important to learn from these experiences and find the best synergies for effective interest representation.” Therefore, the working methods and structure for the next five years will be developed in an evaluation and strategy meeting and presented to the Federal Guild Committee for resolution.

International network and new ones Training and further education strategy

“Thanks to the merger of the two interest groups, the federal guild now has an excellent national and international network,” describes Manfred Kubik, who also succeeds Papinski in the board position of the world association of coachbuilders AIRC. "On the one hand, this gives us information about developments and, on the other hand, we can present our needs at the right time and in the right place. This is particularly necessary in times of technological development in terms of data provision, exchange and security."

But technical developments also mean being prepared for the job market. The current training structures do not currently provide the much-needed flexibility. “We are committed to this need for a new training and further education strategy that is based on the European qualification standard,” says Roman Keglovits-Ackerer proudly. “We know that this EQF/NQF is fundamentally viewed and supported positively, but it remains to be seen whether our further ideas will also find fertile ground.” The fundamental decision provides for a two-stage advanced (apprenticeship) training course at EQF/NQF levels 3 and 4. The specialist training based on this receives EQR/NQF level 5 and the master's examination has already been classified at EQR/NQF 6.
